Engage, learn, act

Advocacy Hour

Explore Spoonfuls’ Advocacy Priorities, lend your insights and perspective on the issues at the heart of our work, and learn from others about the impacts of food waste, food insecurity, and the climate emergency (plus what you can do in your own homes, businesses, and communities to take action now).

Join us for our next Advocacy Hour on September 10 at 12:30 PM.

Something You Can Do

Our community has been asking more and more, “What else can I be doing right now?” Enter: Advocacy Hours! Spoonfuls has engaged in advocacy work for many years, and now we’re making it easier for you to get more involved with the launch of Advocacy Hours.

Join us on September 10 for our inaugural Advocacy Hour (it’s virtual)! And while you’re here, sign up for the following Advocacy Hour on December 10, too. We’ll continue to convene (occasionally, in person) about once per quarter.

Spoonfuls’ Advocacy Priorities

From strengthening Massachusetts’ Organics Waste Ban to supporting the standardization of date labels, Spoonfuls’ Advocacy Priorities are centered on the following themes:

  • Reducing wasted food and its impact on our planet through expanding food recovery.
  • Spreading awareness about wasted food, food insecurity, and the climate emergency – and why food recovery is a good solution.
  • Strengthening the effectiveness of the Massachusetts and national food systems. Ensuring resiliency to food supply threats like the climate emergency. Enhancing the potential for food recovery as a solution.

Who Can Join?

Meetings are open to anyone because advocacy is for everyone! All you need is an interest in working with us on these issues. No policy background required – we can help bring you up to speed. So, whether you’re a current or prospective Spoonfuls’ partner, funder, coalition contact, or community member, we welcome you to join us!

Please note that, as we are based out of Massachusetts, often our conversations focus on relevant local examples and perspectives, but this should not preclude those from other regions from attending.
