Chefs' Table 2019 Raises Over $130,000 for Lovin' Spoonfuls
On Wednesday, April 3, over 175 guests gathered at Drydock Hall at the Innovation & Design Building for the first annual Chefs’ Table event to benefit Lovin’ Spoonfuls. Guests were treated to a celebratory cocktail hour featuring a gorgeous spread by Chef Marcus Ware of New England Charcuterie with beverages by Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Classic Wine Imports, Peak Organic Brewing Co., and San Pellegrino.
Following cocktail hour, guests enjoyed delicious 3-course meals prepared by celebrity chefs Brian Young of the forthcoming The Emory; Karen Akunowicz of Fox & the Knife; Tracy Chang of Pagu; Culinary Board Members Joanne Chang of Myers + Chang and Flour Bakery; and Jamie Bissonnette of Little Donkey, Coppa, Toro Boston, Toro New York, Toro Bangkok, and Toro Dubai. Additional guests enjoyed menus by Capers Catering with produce provided by Baldor Food.
During the meal, Founder and Executive Director Ashley Stanley expanded on Lovin’ Spoonfuls’ 2019 goals, Christopher Myers of Myers + Chang and Flour Bakery shared his personal story with a healthy dose of humor, and a former recipient of Lovin’ Spoonfuls deliveries recounted the positive impact that fresh, healthy food has had on her family. To cap off the evening, NBC10’s Abbey Niezgoda kept both the energy and the bids high as she led a spirited live auction.
Through the support of generous sponsors and guests we raised over $130,000, which will help fund our expansion to new communities in Massachusetts and allow us to add more educational programming for our beneficiaries. It was a spectacular end to an ambitious first quarter of the year, during which we rescued our 12 millionth pound of food.
Chefs’ Table would not have been possible without the support of local individuals and businesses who donated their time, talents, and funds to make this event a success. In addition to the partners already mentioned, a very special thanks to Whole Foods Market, who donated the produce for the centerpieces that we rescued and donated the next day, Bank of America, and other local partners who helped make this event a success including Stinger Staging, Cora and Krist/Lilypad Media, Jamestown and the Innovation and Design Building, Peak Event Services, and Cafco. Additional special thanks to our table sponsors, the Friends of Lovin’ Spoonfuls, and our team of volunteers.
Stay tuned for the save the date for the annual Ultimate Tailgate Party taking place this November later this month. We hope to see you there!
