Meet our new partners: Expanding north of Boston and to Southeastern Massachusetts

This fall, just weeks before the government shutdown, Spoonfuls expanded our food recovery services, delivering over 18,000 pounds of additional food to communities north of Boston and Southeastern Massachusetts each week.

Scaling our food recovery work to reach new places (and serve more people!) has long been central to our plan to create a more sustainable and supportive food access system, and our latest expansion couldn’t have come at a more vital time. In the wake of the longest government shutdown in history and with the future of SNAP at the mercy of the administration’s “big bill,” our expansion to cities like Brockton, Fall River, and Lowell strengthens the safety net in parts of the state where residents experience some of the highest rates of food insecurity. As the need for emergency food resources like food pantries and meal programs surges, Spoonfuls continues to serve as a reliable distributor of fresh food that would otherwise go to waste.
