Our biggest food recovery year to date

In 2024, Spoonfuls recovered over 5.5 million pounds of food—our highest total ever recovered and 17% more than last year. This is especially exciting because this growth was the result of creating efficiency on existing routes, including:

  • Partnering with new food retailers and brands to secure weekly donations,
  • Educating partners on maximizing food donations and reducing wasted food,
  • Capturing one-off opportunities to recover delicious food – like with Dumpling Daughter.

And as we head into 2025 facing uncertainty from the incoming administration around the food safety net, climate policy, and nonprofit funding, Spoonfuls’ commitment to delivering food with purpose remains steadfast.

We invite our community to join us in celebrating Spoonfuls’ record-breaking year and to consider supporting our work in 2025. As we continue to identify ways to enhance existing routes, we’re also poised for expansion to new communities. We look forward to recovering even more food for our neighbors facing food insecurity this year.

With gratitude,
Ashley Stanley
Chief Executive Officer

P.S. We’re now about a year removed from the launch of our strategic plan and rebrand to Spoonfuls, both moves that set the stage for our work in the coming years. For a refresher on both, check out my “So why’d we rebrand anyway?” blog.
