Sara D’Alessandro joined the Spoonfuls team in 2023, passionate about the issues at the heart of our work. Sara started her career on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota, teaching seventh grade and coaching middle school girls’ track before returning home to the Northeast to pursue a master’s degree in Education Policy from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. After working with various education research and reform projects for nearly a decade, including working alongside the Superintendent during Lawrence Public Schools’ whole district turnaround and reform effort, Sara pivoted her career and interests to food systems hobbies and jobs. She worked on several farms in New England, baked sourdough bread for a year in a small artisan bakery in the Poconos, and worked in jobs focused on reducing food waste from farms and restaurants. Just prior to coming to Spoonfuls, Sara helped rebuild the Culinary Training Program at Root North Shore in Salem.
